Hello from Northern Ireland! Originally from Canada, I've spent 8 wonderful years in the design industry, collaborating with indie businesses, entrepreneurs, and artisans. Now, settled in the beautiful countryside with my husband and his family, I'm thrilled to work as a graphic designer in a marketing agency part time in Derry and on the weekends helping in all aspects with my sister in law’s pottery studio and café. From making flat white’s and recording reels, to taking photos and sending email marketing campaigns.

Besides design, I love traveling, enjoying good food, coffee, hiking, and swimming in the sea!

My Design Philosophy + The Inner Voice

My design philosophy is based on my creative process, design thinking and a little bit of magic which I find in the way of listening to my inner voice. I have a meditation practice and look for wisdom from within in every scenario. This has affected every part of my creative process and where I draw inspiration for my workshops.

SOME RECENT GRAPHIC DESIGN PROJECTS

Roots By The Sea is an amazing cafe in a seaside village on the Isle of Man. Their cafe is full of delicious bagels, porridge bowls, and treats. When the owner Jamie asked if I could design the menu I jumped at the chance because I love the cafe so much. The menu was originally on a chalkboard which worked well to start with.

In accordance with the Roots brand identity I suggested the menu be printed on a seed paper that is sustainable and has bee-friendly blooms when planted. This was important, as Roots also has a honey company that produces raw unadulterated Manx honey. 

I have also designed social items in line with the roots brand and coffee packaging which is almost ready to be revealed!

The Blackheath Pottery is such a joy to work with, this is my sister in law to be’s dream come true - a pottery studio and cafe in the countryside in Coleraine. The pottery has been totally renovated in an outbuilding in the courtyard next to Blackheath House. The house was built in the 1700’s.

Babs creates handmade porcelain tableware in her pottery and teaches pottery classes as well. Her work honours the past whilst adding functional modern aspects as well.

She knew she wanted the house to be a prominent part of the logo. I sketched the house in a lot of different variations of detail and then we chose one and I took a photo of it and brought it into Illustrator and vectorised it. I also added the foliage around the house to represent the closeness to the land and the history of Blackheath House.

From there I created a colour palette based off of the Northern Irish countryside that compliments the pottery range.

I have then created a host of other items all in accordance with the brand including menus, signs for the property, social media items and signage for the cafe.

This is a logo rebranding project that I worked on for a yoga studio on the Isle of Man, Shine Om. Our client was looking for a refresh on their current logo and ashtetic. They wanted to retrain the swirl and add a refreshing calm aspect to the whole aesthetic.

The logo was sketched in its circular iteration first and then was brought to life by me and the other iterations were created for all the different ways it will be used.

The logo is used as a sign on the wall of the yoga studio, as well as on social media and or an upcoming app. I also created a color palette that can be used across different branding materials. 

Megan is a Cransiosacral healer that works with many energetic modalities to help guide people on their spiritual journeys. This brand was an absolute dream to work on with Megan. We meditated and then brainstormed together and came up with this system.
